Chapter History

Texas Tech University believes in academic excellence and striving for honor. Our Golden Key chapter aligns itself with those same values. The 60th Golden Key chapter, Texas Tech University, was chartered on April 16th, as part of U.S. Region 7, which includes schools in Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas.

With more than 15,900 members since 1985, the TTU Golden Key chapter is a large and influential honor society with very successful members. Honorary members include Coach Robert Knight, Mayor David Langston, and former University Chancellor John Montford. Our chapter is very focused on academic excellence as well as community service. Members maintain their scholarly activities while still providing, on average, 300 hours of service. We have maintained Gold Standing since 2009 with our strong campus and community involvement. We welcome prospective members, sophomores through graduate students who are in the top 15% of their class and interested in service and leadership development.
